Great Western Designer Outlet Centre Project

Great Western Designer Outlet Centre, Swindon, 700T
Carillion

This fascinating project turned the historic Great Western Railway Works, built by Brunel in 1843, into one of Britain’s largest and most attractive shopping malls. It has over one hundred designer label stores in a million square meters of floor space. The project required 700T of steelwork. To avoid altering the existing grade II listed building, neither welding or drilling of the existing steel was permitted. We therefore develpoed innovative connections, including circular clamps around the existing tapered cast iron columns.

Matalan Project

Matalan, Bristol, 84T
Stradform

Matalan needed an 84T steelwork mezzanine built in an existing store within 7 weeks from order. We designed, fabricated and delivered it in 4 weeks and erected it in 3. The site work was complex as new columns were needed to support the roof before the existing trusses were moved to provide the retail headroom needed.
