Great Western Designer Outlet Centre, Swindon, 700T Carillion
This fascinating project turned the historic Great Western Railway Works, built by Brunel in 1843, into one of Britain’s largest and most attractive shopping malls. It has over one hundred designer label stores in a million square meters of floor space. The project required 700T of steelwork. To avoid altering the existing grade II listed building, neither welding or drilling of the existing steel was permitted. We therefore develpoed innovative connections, including circular clamps around the existing tapered cast iron columns. |
